Abarim [AB ah rim]
(the regions beyond) - a range of mountains east of the Dead Sea and the Jordan River valley. Mount Nebo was part of this mountain range. These mountains gave a panoramic view of the surrounding country. From Mount Nebo Moses surveyed the Promised Land before he died (Deut. 32:49; Num. 27:12).
